Soundcheck: A Survey on Mental Health in the Canadian Music Industry
As dedicated community partners, along with SOCAN, Unison is proud to support Soundcheck —a national study led by Revelios [Mental Health Works], a workplace mental health research and strategy firm. This initiative, launched in September 2024, aims to deepen our understanding of the mental health experiences and challenges facing people working across the Canadian music industry. The survey remains open to anyone in the Canadian music industry until September 30, 2025.
This is the first survey of its kind in Canada, designed to capture key insights into how mental health, work environments, and social factors shape well-being in our industry. The multiple-choice survey explores a range of areas including demographics, workplace culture, mental health experiences, and access to support.
The survey is completely anonymous. A third-party software, Qualtrics, is being used to house and capture data. No identifying information will be visible to any party.
Your participation is crucial in helping us capture a comprehensive understanding of the current state of mental health in our community. This is a chance for you to use your voice and inspire meaningful change.
Unison knows the importance of understanding our community’s needs in order to grow our resources and services as the safety net for the Canadian music industry in times of crisis. Insights from this research will help improve mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and foster a healthier, more supportive industry culture. It will also guide Unison in developing programs and services that reflect the needs of Canada’s music community. If you work in music, we encourage you to take the survey and share it with others in your network.
